BACCHANALIA

Over the last few years, I’ve worked across twelve mid to high-end restaurant brands. As a singular videographer and editor, I have helped the team craft and maintain each with their own look and feel.

Film, light & edit for Bacchanalia :

FILM : Capturing the Greek statues is essential in portraying the essence and experience of the brand. Using a mix of gimbal and tripod camera work, to keep things smooth and elegant. Handheld use prohibited, unless absolutely critical, but is limited to one shot and shouldn’t be able to tell that it’s handheld.

LIGHT : Two main areas are treated very differently. The main restaurant area is used to showcase a daytime feel, using a mix of slightly harsh daylight seeping through the vast windows and a more softer tungsten indoor lighting. In the Apollo’s Muse bar area, which has no windows, is where the night life of the brand is usually presented. A place where dramatic harsh lighting is used in a more stylistic way. Light movement is often used to create moments of darkness, to then reveal, the exquisite texture of the stone and marble decor.

EDIT : The edit pace is the slowest of all the brands, a luxurious feel, lingering on the beautiful aesthetics of the restaurant. For Apollo’s Muse the highlights and darks are kept very contrasting and the edit is crafted in a more abstract way.

FOOD LIFESTYLE

It’s a big responsibility, but also very rewarding as a videographer, to be trusted to use your skills and knowledge to help form the look and feel of a brand.

The great dining area is where the main campaigns and guest experiences are filmed.

LOCATION

Stepping into Bacchanalia takes you back in time, where art, sculptures and decor leaves the modern everyday behind. Everywhere the lens looks is beauty waiting to be captured.

THE RESTAURANT
THE BAR

The main dining area, where the morning sunlight seeps through the large windows, casting rays of light over the enormous painting and towering statues above your head.

SPONSORED COCKTAILS

Behind one of the doors in Bacchanalia you’ll find Apollos Muse, which is the crown jewel of the restaurant. It’s a windowless bar, covered in marble & statues from ceiling to floor.

DALMORE
CYGNET

This is where I love to film, not only for the beauty, but because it’s usually one bar person and myself, being left to our own devises to create a dark and moody cocktail video.

INTERVIEWS

Interviews help brands get across information and connect with their audience in more human way.

COCKTAIL BOOK

These videos were created to help promote the cocktail book launch. Each cocktail had its own origin story, crafted by their very own bar staff and team. The concept was ‘Alchemist’, so we turned Apollo’s Muse into an old-school laboratory.
